Tooth Root Strength

1 General description

In addition to flank load capacity, tooth root load capacity is the most important design criterion for gears. Therefore, precise knowledge of it is of great importance for determining the load capacity of the entire gearbox. We can investigate the tooth root load capacity of your worm and spur gear transmissions both experimentally and numerically and derive recommendations for increasing load capacity.

2 Analysis

The strength of your gears can be determined experimentally using pulsator test rigs (torque transmission at standstill) and gearbox test rigs (application-oriented dynamic operation). In addition, material investigations can serve to analyze damage causes by separating the influences of geometry and material. Powerful programs for numerical investigation are used for detailed analysis of the test results. On the one hand, programs for special gearbox types are available, and on the other hand, flexible tools for investigating any gearbox variants. As a result, you receive a statement on the load capacity of your gearing depending on the existing load conditions. Tooth root load capacity

3 Synthesis

Based on the analysis results, recommendations can be provided for the optimization of your gearing. This concerns the material side to the same extent as optimization of the geometry of the gearing and also of the gear body. Likewise, the influences of the remaining machine elements of the gearbox on the gearing can also be taken into account.
