Social Counseling of the Student Council (StuRa)
The Department for Federal Education and Social Affairs of the StuRa (Student Council) is here to advise you on your Bafög application or your rights as a student assistant.

Failed the third attempt or feel disadvantaged by the professor? Then contact the Examination Counseling of the Student Council. Register early via email, as it is very popular :)

Counseling Services of the Student Services (StuWe)
The Studentenwerk is not only responsible for Bafög and the Mensa, but also offers a variety of counseling services. In the social counseling, you can obtain information about additional financing options such as student part-time jobs and study loans. Additionally, there are legal and psychological counseling services.

Additionally, the university library provides access to all books from Springer Publisher and Teubner Publisher through Springerlink. You can use this service when you are connected to the university network (WLAN or VPN).

LaTeX for Students
LaTeX is a professional typesetting system used for lab reports, theses, academic papers, or presentations. Unlike WYSIWYG editors (MS Word), LaTeX ensures consistent formatting, clean formulas, and stress-free reference and citation management.
1. Setup & Editors
- Installation: Windows & Linux: TeX Live or MiKTeX from latex-project.org
- Editors:
- Offline: TeXstudio, TeXworks, or VS Code with LaTeX-Workshop
- Online: Overleaf (TUC URZ edition)
2. Overleaf & Pool Computers
- Pool computers: TeX Live pre-installed, simply launch TeXstudio or TeXworks
- Overleaf Server: overleaf.hrz.tu-chemnitz.de – SSO, full package library, CI templates, and archiving
3. Templates & Corporate Design
- Thesis Template: GitLab repo “abschlussarbeit”
- CI packages: 2019 full package & older archives via URZ Software Overview
- More templates: Letter, memo, poster, beamer – all available in .sty/.cls format
4. Bibliography & References (BibLaTeX etc.)
