IUZ Info Events on Studying Abroad
The International Office (IUZ) of Chemnitz University of Technology is again offering a range of information events in the winter semester 2025/26 on studying and internships abroad, Erasmus+, and funding opportunities.
You can find all dates on the flyer and the IUZ website. A highlight is the International Day on November 4, 2025 starting at 1:45 p.m. in lecture hall C10.113 (“Orangerie”), featuring student experiences, scholarship information, and presentations from partner universities.
Further sessions cover topics such as worldwide study abroad programs, Erasmus+ funding, and organizational guidance. All events take place in the Central Lecture and Seminar Building, Reichenhainer Str. 90, Room C10.113 (formerly 2/N113).

Stories of the Chemnitz Kindertransports 1938–1940
In the winter semester 2025/26, as part of the TUCAcademy, a block seminar will take place in preparation for the Year of Jewish Culture in Saxony 2026. The seminar focuses on children from Chemnitz who were rescued from Nazi Germany between December 1938 and summer 1940 through the Kindertransport programme.
Participants will independently research and present the biography of one of these children. The seminar includes an introduction to archival research and a visit to the Chemnitz City Archive. The results will form part of a hybrid exhibition, which will be published on the “Tacheles” project website and displayed on roll-ups at the Diversity Day of Chemnitz University of Technology in May 2026.

ASA Scholarship for Projects in Renewable Energy
The ASA programme has opened its new application round. From 1 December 2025 to 20 January 2026, students and young professionals aged 21 to 30 can apply for over 100 international project placements. Several projects focus on renewable energy.
Examples include:
– India: Expanding rural renewable energy supply through microgrids
– Kyrgyzstan: Promoting sustainability in local agricultural communities
– Colombia: Developing agrivoltaic systems for a clean energy future
– Namibia: Researching green hydrogen and sharing knowledge
The programme consists of a three- to six-month project phase in countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and South-Eastern Europe, along with preparatory and follow-up seminars. A total of 280 scholarships are awarded each year.

Erasmus+ Semester Abroad Winter Semester 2026/27 at the University of Banja Luka
Chemnitz University of Technology is a member of the EU university alliance Across, which also includes the University of Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina). The International Office (IUZ) provides special Erasmus+ funding for a semester abroad in winter semester 2026/27.
The funding includes:
- a monthly grant of EUR 700
- travel cost support
- an additional monthly grant of EUR 250 for students with “fewer opportunities” (further information at mytuc.org/fzmp)
Applications can be submitted online from now until 31 March 2026 via a special application procedure. Further details and the link to the online application can be found at mytuc.org/znyg.

Open Access Week und Open Science Day 2025
From October 20 to 26, 2025, the International Open Access Week will take place. Chemnitz University of Technology will host various events focusing on Open Science.
In parallel, the ACROSS Open Science Week offers a wide range of English-language online sessions via Microsoft Teams. The full program and access information are available on the network’s website: ACROSS Open Science Week.
Additionally, the University Library invites participants to several on-site events. An overview can be found on the library’s website: Open Access Week – TU Chemnitz.
A highlight of the week will be the Open Science Day titled “Who Owns Knowledge? Open Science at Chemnitz University of Technology” on October 23, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. at the IdeenReich of the University Library. During this event, the Open Science Award will be presented, and applicants will showcase their projects.
All interested persons, including students, are warmly welcome to attend.
Finance Lecture by the StuRa Department BuS (BAföG and Social Affairs)
The StuRa Department BuS (BAföG and Social Affairs) invites you to a finance lecture. It will take place on October 22, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Room A10.367 (StraNa).
Learn about your financial options and exchange experiences with scholarship holders and BAföG recipients. Topics include BAföG, scholarships, and student jobs.
There are 40 available places. If there is high demand, the lecture will be repeated or held online.

Panel Discussion “Industry in Transition – Paths, Visions, Limits”
On Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., the panel discussion “Industry in Transition – Paths, Visions, Limits” will take place at the Industrial Museum Chemnitz. The event is part of the special exhibition “Tales of Transformation” and organized in cooperation with Industrieverein Sachsen 1828 e.V.
Note
The discussion will be held in German.
Representatives from industry, academia, and the start-up scene will engage in dialogue with citizens about industrial transformation – from electromobility and sustainable materials to the promotion of young companies. The discussion will address opportunities, challenges, and both regional and national perspectives.

“Oncology in Dialogue” and Oncology Innovation Forum 2025
The 6th Symposium “Oncology in Dialogue” with the preceding Oncology Innovation Forum will take place from 19 to 21 September 2025 at Hotel Chemnitzer Hof, Theaterplatz 1, 09111 Chemnitz. The Innovation Forum on Friday is also suitable for participants without a primarily medical background.

Quantenphysik meets Fahrradkino
On September 10, 2025, at 7:00 pm, Fraunhofer ENAS together with Fahrradkino Chemnitz e.V. invites you to a special movie night. The film „Schilf – Alles, was denkbar ist, existiert“ will be shown as part of the “International Year of Quantum Science and Technology.”
The highlight: The movie is powered entirely by the audience, who pedal together to generate eco-friendly energy.
