IUZ Information Events on Studying Abroad

The International Office (IUZ) offers several information events in the summer semester 2026 on studying abroad during your degree.

The sessions cover funding opportunities (e.g. Erasmus+, PROMOS, DAAD), partner universities and organisational aspects.

Semiconductor Talent Incubation Program (STIPT) – Taiwan

The Semiconductor Talent Incubation Program (STIPT) offers students the opportunity to gain insights into production and research in the semiconductor industry in Taiwan. The programme includes a four-month course programme at a Taiwanese university followed by a two-month internship at TSMC.

bits, bonding, bassline – Festival of Electronics in Dresden

The business festival of electronics bits, bonding, bassline will take place on 19 June 2026 at Stromwerk Mitte in Dresden. The event combines music, networking and exchange between students, young professionals and industry.

The festival connects students, doctoral candidates and professionals from electrical engineering, computer science and related fields with companies from the electronics and IT sectors. In addition to musical performances, several formats for networking and exchange are planned.

The programme includes:

  • Live music and DJ acts
  • Student pitches and company pitches
  • Bonding sessions and networking formats
  • Exchange between industry and young professionals

Admission is free for registered students, doctoral candidates and postdocs (subject to available capacity). Further information about the festival can be found on the official website: bits-bonding-bassline.com.

Power Campus 2026 in Chemnitz

The enviaM Group is organising the Power Campus again in summer 2026 in Chemnitz. The one-week event is aimed at Bachelor's and Master's students in engineering and provides insights into topics related to the energy transition.

Please note:
The event will be conducted exclusively in German. Participants must have at least B2/C1 level German language proficiency.

Contents:

  • Workshops and case studies on topics such as smart grids, energy policy, redispatch and renewable energies
  • Exchange with experts from various fields
  • Work on practical, real-world cases
  • Study credits (Studium Generale) possible, depending on your university

Soldering Courses for EEIT Students

The workshop of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology offers practice-oriented soldering courses for students and staff. The aim is to develop basic and advanced skills in handling electronic components.

Course modules:

  • Basics of soldering
  • Soldering on printed circuit boards (THT)
  • SMD soldering
  • PCB repair (desoldering and component replacement)
  • Reflow soldering

Organisation:

  • Small groups of up to 4 participants
  • Individual scheduling depending on demand and availability
  • Registration possible at any time

Basic knowledge is recommended for advanced modules. It is therefore advisable to start with the introductory course.

Duration: approx. 2 hours per module

The soldering courses are offered on an ongoing basis throughout the semester. Dates are arranged individually depending on demand and availability.

Summer School “Future Technologies in Diagnostics” 2026

Chemnitz University of Technology, together with partners from academia and applied research, is organising the Summer School “Future Technologies in Diagnostics”. The programme is aimed at students from various disciplines who are interested in interdisciplinary work and gaining insights into modern point-of-care technologies.

The Summer School is held in German.

The programme includes:

  • Workshops on topics such as laser processing, 3D printing, DNA sequencing and fluorescence microscopy
  • Insights into current research and practical projects
  • Hands-on sessions to develop solutions and prototypes
  • Exchange with industry partners and excursions
  • Opportunities for academic and personal networking

Participation is free of charge and open to students from fields such as medical engineering, medicine, health management, health economics, biochemistry, biotechnology, physical engineering, biophotonics, electrical engineering, sensor technology, mechanical engineering, manufacturing technology, mechatronics or related disciplines, regardless of study level.

Strike on 27 February 2026 – Public Transport Disruptions

Chemnitz public transport provider CVAG will be on strike from Friday, 27 February 2026, 00:00 until Saturday, 28 February 2026, 03:00.

A large number of bus and tram connections are expected to be cancelled.

If you have an exam on Friday, make sure to allow significantly more travel time.

Winterball

At the end of the semester, the student councils’ winter ball takes place. All students and members of TU Chemnitz as well as external guests are invited to a festive evening of music and dancing.

ASA Scholarship for Projects in Renewable Energy

The ASA programme has opened its new application round. From 1 December 2025 to 20 January 2026, students and young professionals aged 21 to 30 can apply for over 100 international project placements. Several projects focus on renewable energy.

Examples include:
– India: Expanding rural renewable energy supply through microgrids
– Kyrgyzstan: Promoting sustainability in local agricultural communities
– Colombia: Developing agrivoltaic systems for a clean energy future
– Namibia: Researching green hydrogen and sharing knowledge

The programme consists of a three- to six-month project phase in countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and South-Eastern Europe, along with preparatory and follow-up seminars. A total of 280 scholarships are awarded each year.

Stories of the Chemnitz Kindertransports 1938–1940

In the winter semester 2025/26, as part of the TUCAcademy, a block seminar will take place in preparation for the Year of Jewish Culture in Saxony 2026. The seminar focuses on children from Chemnitz who were rescued from Nazi Germany between December 1938 and summer 1940 through the Kindertransport programme.

Participants will independently research and present the biography of one of these children. The seminar includes an introduction to archival research and a visit to the Chemnitz City Archive. The results will form part of a hybrid exhibition, which will be published on the “Tacheles” project website and displayed on roll-ups at the Diversity Day of Chemnitz University of Technology in May 2026.

Participation is open to students from all disciplines and offers the opportunity to earn Microcredentials. A minimum of B2 level German language skills is required.

IUZ Info Events on Studying Abroad

The International Office (IUZ) of Chemnitz University of Technology is again offering a range of information events in the winter semester 2025/26 on studying and internships abroad, Erasmus+, and funding opportunities.

You can find all dates on the flyer and the IUZ website. A highlight is the International Day on November 4, 2025 starting at 1:45 p.m. in lecture hall C10.113 (“Orangerie”), featuring student experiences, scholarship information, and presentations from partner universities.

Further sessions cover topics such as worldwide study abroad programs, Erasmus+ funding, and organizational guidance. All events take place in the Central Lecture and Seminar Building, Reichenhainer Str. 90, Room C10.113 (formerly 2/N113).

Infineon Technologies Dresden

On 8 January 2026, students of the ET/IT faculty will have the opportunity to visit Infineon Technologies Dresden and gain insights into current fields of work and development.

Christmas Lecture of the Faculty of Mathematics

The Faculty of Mathematics invites you to this year’s Christmas lecture (Held in German). Under the title „Weihnachtliche Strömungen: wenn Mathematik ins Fließen kommt“, Prof Dr Fleurianne Bertrand will give a talk on mathematical phenomena related to flows.
