Excursion to the Bosch Semiconductor Fab in Dresden

On 16 April 2026, ETIT students and staff of Chemnitz University of Technology will have the opportunity to visit the Bosch semiconductor fab in Dresden and gain insights into modern semiconductor manufacturing and Industry 4.0.

During the excursion, you will learn more about the site and its technologies and gain an overview of current developments in sensor and semiconductor production.

Programme:

  • 13:00: Arrival and reception
  • 13:15–13:45: Presentation of the Bosch Semiconductor Fab Dresden
  • 13:45–14:45: Guided tour (Visitor Centre and PFA laboratory)
  • 14:45–15:00: Coffee break
  • 15:00–15:15: Introduction of the Bosch Dresden team
  • 15:15–15:45: Presentation on Industry 4.0
  • 15:45–16:15: Introduction to Bosch Sensortec
  • 16:15–16:45: Summary and open questions

Health-AI Hackathon 2026 at Chemnitz University of Technology

On 5 and 6 May 2026, the Health-AI Hackathon will take place at Chemnitz University of Technology under the motto “Rethinking healthcare in the age of generative artificial intelligence”.

In interdisciplinary teams, participants will develop prototypes for real-world healthcare challenges within 48 hours. Participation is free of charge and open to students, early-career researchers, and practitioners from various disciplines.

bits, bonding, bassline – Festival of Electronics in Dresden

The business festival of electronics bits, bonding, bassline will take place on 19 June 2026 at Stromwerk Mitte in Dresden. The event combines music, networking and exchange between students, young professionals and industry.

The festival connects students, doctoral candidates and professionals from electrical engineering, computer science and related fields with companies from the electronics and IT sectors. In addition to musical performances, several formats for networking and exchange are planned.

The programme includes:

  • Live music and DJ acts
  • Student pitches and company pitches
  • Bonding sessions and networking formats
  • Exchange between industry and young professionals

Application Open for Semiconductor Program in Taiwan

The “Semiconductor Talent Incubation Program” (STIPT) in Taiwan is now accepting applications for the summer semester 2026. The program is a joint initiative by the Free State of Saxony, TU Dresden, and TSMC.

From March to June 2026, participants will attend a specialized semiconductor course at National Taiwan University. Afterwards, they will complete a two-month practical training at TSMC’s Newcomer Training Center & Fab in Taichung. A total of up to 28 ECTS credits can be awarded.

Participants will receive coverage of tuition and program fees, along with a living allowance.

Eligible applicants must be enrolled full-time in a STEM field at a Saxon university and fulfill one of the following criteria:

  • at least in the 4th semester of a Bachelor’s degree
  • currently in a Master’s program
  • in a Diploma program (at least half of the standard study period completed)

On Saturday, May 24, 2025, the event “Level Up – Cocktails and Games” will take place at the Central Lecture and Seminar Building.

Bits Bonding Bassline Festival 2025

On May 16, 2025, the Bits Bonding Bassline Festival of Electronics will take place at Stromwerk Mitte in Dresden. Students from all over Germany will meet exciting electronics companies to the sound of beats, basslines, and a vibrant atmosphere.

Admission: Admission is free.

Start: Doors open at 7:30 PM.

Arrival:

  • On foot: From Dresden’s Old Town, Stromwerk can be reached within 10–15 minutes on foot.

Students Wanted for Senate Committees

The Senate Committees for Teaching and Studies (KLS) and for Research and Promotion of Young Scientists (KFF) are urgently looking for student members.

These committees prepare important Senate decisions and advise on fundamental issues affecting the entire university. The KLS, in particular, is responsible for shaping the framework of teaching and studies – similar to a faculty study commission but on a university-wide level.

  • 2 students are still needed for the KLS.
  • 3 students are still needed for the KFF.

STIPT Program Explained: How to Make Your Internship in Taiwan a Success

The Leonardo Office Saxony invites you to online information sessions about the Semiconductor Talent Incubation Program Taiwan (STIPT) in cooperation with TSMC. Students and Deans of Study will receive important updates about changes to the application process. A new requirement is that a recommendation must be electronically submitted by the Dean of Study via the Mobility Online Tool.

The application period for the STIPT program for the summer semester 2026 starts on May 1, 2025. Eligible fields of study include Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, Nanoelectronics, Materials Science, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, Robotics, Sensor Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science.
