Stories of the Chemnitz Kindertransports 1938–1940

In the winter semester 2025/26, as part of the TUCAcademy, a block seminar will take place in preparation for the Year of Jewish Culture in Saxony 2026. The seminar focuses on children from Chemnitz who were rescued from Nazi Germany between December 1938 and summer 1940 through the Kindertransport programme.

Participants will independently research and present the biography of one of these children. The seminar includes an introduction to archival research and a visit to the Chemnitz City Archive. The results will form part of a hybrid exhibition, which will be published on the “Tacheles” project website and displayed on roll-ups at the Diversity Day of Chemnitz University of Technology in May 2026.

Further details about the seminar, including the schedule (starting in early November) and implementation, can be found on the TUCAcademy website: TUCAcademy – Kindertransports Seminar.

Participation is open to students from all disciplines and offers the opportunity to earn Microcredentials. A minimum of B2 level German language skills is required.
