Requirements for funding

In general

• The application for release funding should be submitted prior to the submission of the manuscript to the publisher. The financing may be covered subject to funding resources available within the publication fund. The allocation of funding resources is being implemented according to the chronological order of invoice receipt.
• The corresponding author is adherent of Chemnitz University of Technology at the time of submission of the manuscript.
• The release is a primary publication meaning a monograph not yet released, anthologies or contributions to anthologies.
• The maximum funding amounts, VAT included, 3.000 Euro per monograph and 1.500 Euro in the case of contributions to anthologies.
• Costs surpassing those limits are to be borne by the author or their cost center themselves. By resources of the German Research Foundation, exclusively monographs elaborated within projects of the German Research Foundation could be funded. Those are supported by 5.000 Euro.
• The charges for Open Access-monographs are clearly calculated and communicated by the publisher, the Open Access-share has to be indicated separately. Exclusively Open Access-charges may be funded. Other costs (for printing, setting, editing, surcharges for colors, scope etc.) are not eligible.
• The publications funded have to be traceable. If applicable, please link to DOI or ORCID (not mandatory). The University Library consults and assist you within the ORCID-registration.

• The application for publication funding should be submitted to the Library prior to the submission of the manuscript to the publisher. The financing may be covered subject to the funding resources available in the Publication Fund. The funding is allocated according to the chronological order of invoice receipt.
• In the case of a DFG-funded project, the manuscript must contain a "Funding Acknowledgement" in the following form upon submission:
  „Funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) – Projektnummer(n)“.
  In foreign-language publications, a translation into the target language should be added:
  The project number of the referenced project can be found in the approval letter or in the GEPRIS project information system.

Quality

• For academic assessment, a Peer-Review resp. assessment procedure is implemented corresponding to the subject-specific standards.
• Information regarding the selection and assessment criteria of the publisher is publically accessible. It should be open-minded towards new, innovative manners for quality assurance, e.g. Open Peer Review. Doctoral theses should at least be assessed by the grade “magna cum laude”.

Accessibility

• The access is free of charge and open to the public, without financial, legal or technical barriers.
• The release is clearly determined as Open Access-publication. The publication is released in all online-formats DRM-free as Open Access-publication. The release of the Open Access-version happens at the same time of that of an eventually parallel printed version.
• The mandatory submission of a print and an online copy to the German National Library as well as to the respective State Library is assured.
• In addition to the recording at the German National Library, Open Access-publications have to be registered in respective databases like OAPEN and DOAB.
• Corresponding research data and other materials shall preferably be archived in an appropriate repository and linked in the publication.
• The Open Access-version of the publication is made accessible to the public in a well-visible way on the website of the publisher along with the respective versions subject to charge.
• The long-term archiving is assured. In this objective, the publisher co-operates with a certified service provider (e.g. German National Library, Portico).

Rights

• Authors and editors concede simple usage rights to the publisher and thus keep the right to concede simple usage rights also to other parties and to release the publication or parts of it at other places as well.
• The publications have to be equipped with licenses by the authors regulating the continuous usage of those publications in a legally watertight way. As standard, CC-BY or CC-BY-SA is recommendable. CC-BY-ND is also possible. The rights on illustrations and other external material belonging to the rights of third-parties are settled and clearly indicated. As far as possible, they do not impede the provision of the entire elaboration by a Creative-Commons-license. Information regarding the allocation of rights is included in the imprint in textual manner and embedded in the file in a machine-readable way.

Conduct of publication funding for monographs

• The application for funding of publication of a monograph or an anthology contribution should be submitted to the University Library prior to submission of the manuscript to the publisher (please observe the accounting information regarding publications abroad (pdf).
• The further process depends on the decision on funding. The Open Access Team informs you about the procedure.
