Activities of Our Members
Led by Prof. Dr. Ellen Fricke (Chemnitz University of Technology), Babelmanufaktur combines artistic research, linguistics, and AI technology. The project explores how language can be experienced through sound—using both human and AI-generated voices. Visitors can create their own layers of sound on the website and thus experience the creative potential of automated processes for themselves. Soundscapes of Europe is part of the Chemnitz 2025 Capital of Culture project and is funded by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation.

On May 22, 2025, the podcast "Linguistics Behind the Scenes" launched an entertaining look behind the scenes of linguistics. Linguist Prof. Dr. Christina Sanchez-Stockhammer and host Dominic Piazza discuss norms, change, and surprising aspects of language use. The podcast is supported by the Chair of English and Digital Linguistics.
