CHIM Research and Innovation Network
The origins of the CHIM Research and Innovation Network date back to a cooperation agreement signed in 2008 by Chemnitz University of Technology, Ilmenau University of Technology, and Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. The agreement aimed to strengthen the alliance of Central German universities. This partnership between three universities with a strong engineering and natural sciences profile was established to promote innovation and sustainability and to structure growth processes strategically. To date, the collaboration has focused primarily on research and teaching. In this context, a broad platform for joint research initiatives has been created. The resulting Chemnitz–Ilmenau–Magdeburg Research and Innovation Network (“CHIM”) represents not only research, but also innovation. The tri-university network is designed to significantly intensify cooperation between the three locations.
