A visit makes it easier to decide what to study: 30 pupils from Ústí nad Labem and Liberec visited Chemnitz University of Technology on 28 and 29 November 2019. They also visited the WOT professorship and completed a work placement.

Since 1 April 2019, a research project on high-strength local bonding of metal and plastic has been running jointly between the WOT professorship and the Fraunhofer Institute IWS. The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

New experimental press for the production of hybrid material composites
The company Mieruch & Hofmann from Limbach-Oberfrohna developed a special joining system for hybrid metal-plastic composites for the WOT professorship, which achieves particularly high cooling rates of significantly more than 100 Kelvin per minute.

WOT researchers significantly involved in the development of an intrinsic hybrid composite
Scientists from the three professorships of Solid Mechanics, Materials and Surface Technology and Materials Science at Chemnitz University of Technology and the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology IWU Chemnitz have designed an intrinsic hybrid composite for crash-loaded structural components and produced it in a near-series production process.
