Top positions in the DFG Funding Atlas
Chemnitz University of Technology is recognised in the current funding atlas of the German Research Foundation (DFG) for its outstanding activities in acquiring third-party funding. The TU is far ahead in individual scientific fields. Between 2014 and 2016, for example, it was ranked fifth in Germany for DFG approvals in the engineering sciences with around 676,800 euros per professor. In total, engineering scientists in Germany raised 39.3 million euros during this period.
In its 170-page report, the DFG goes into even more detail in its analysis of the subject areas: Chemnitz University of Technology achieved 8th place in the subject area of „Materials Science and Engineering“, and 4th place in the subject area of „Materials Engineering“ alone. 8th place was also achieved in the subject area of Mechanical and Production Engineering.
