ETSA workshop on thermal spraying in Pilsen/CZ
ETSA workshop on thermal spraying in Pilsen/CZ
On 10 and 11 April 2018, a workshop co-organised by the European Thermal Spray Association ETSA on new developments in the field of thermal spraying of thermal barrier coatings took place at the New Technologies Research Centre of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen/CZ. Thermal sprayed thermal barrier coatings are mainly used in the high-temperature areas of stationary and aircraft turbines. There they fulfil functions without which the current operating conditions of the turbines and the efficiencies currently achieved would not be possible. However, efforts are still being made to improve the service lives and tolerable thermal and mechanical loads of the coating systems. The workshop therefore presented the latest developments in process and materials technology in the field of thermal barrier coating systems to more than 50 participants from research and industry in nine expert presentations. One of the invited speakers was Dr Thomas Grund, who presented results on multilayer thermal barrier coating systems with increased oxidation resistance developed at the Chair of WOT.
The next event organised with the support of ETSA, the ITSHC, will take place from 26 to 28 September 2018 in Wroclaw/PL.
