WOT represented at the meeting of the „Junior-WAW“
On 20 and 21 April 2026, the junior members of the Scientific Working Group of University Professors of Materials Engineering e.V. (WAW) at the University of Siegen at the Chair of Materials Science and Materials Testing. The WOT professorship was of course represented.
The aims of the association include the promotion and coordination of scientific work in the field of materials technology as well as the promotion of scientific co-operation and the exchange of scientific experience.
This year's meeting was attended by 15 senior engineers from the WAW group. The Chair of WOT was represented by Dr Rico Drehmann and Dr Thomas Grund. Over the two days of the network meeting, the Siegen colleagues presented and discussed interesting specialist topics in addition to the strategic direction of possible collaborations and in-depth cooperation with the WAW e.V. A central and recurring element was the recycling of products and materials.
A highlight for all participants was the visit to the Siegen Smart Demonstration Factory, where impressive digital and sustainable manufacturing and production concepts are being investigated and presented to us.
Once again, we would like to thank Dr. Ingor Baumann from the Technical University of Dortmund for organising the „Junior-WAW“ and Prof. Dr. Axel von Hehl and Dr. Carolin Zinn for inviting us to Siegen.
