WOT staff member appointed to the Advisory Board of the International Journal of Plasticity

Since 1 April 2026, Dr Markus Härtel, research associate at the Chair of WOT, has been a member of the Advisory Board of the renowned International Journal of Plasticity (impact factor 12.8). The appointment was made by the Editor-in-Chief Akhtar Khan and recognises Härtel's long-standing commitment to quality assurance in the international research community.

The starting point for this development was the successful publication of key findings from his dissertation in the aforementioned journal in 2022. As a result, Dr Härtel was increasingly asked to act as a reviewer. With high professional standards and great personal commitment, he has carried out more than 130 peer reviews in the past three years. This continuous commitment to scientific peer review has now been honoured with his inclusion on the Advisory Board. In his new role, Dr Härtel will continue to actively participate in review processes and submit his own contributions. In addition, one of his tasks as a junior editor is to provide impetus for special issues. This career path shows how voluntary involvement in the peer review process not only contributes to strengthening the scientific community, but can also provide valuable impetus for personal development and scientific networking.

The WOT professorship is delighted to receive this award. It can be seen as an incentive to become more involved in the assessment and further development of research, ´which opens up new perspectives and can promote innovative projects.
