WOT actively organises international conference in the field of thermal spraying
The International Thermal Spray Conference ITSC2026 took place in Bangkok from 18 to 20 March 2026. For many years, the Chair of WOT has not only been a participant in the conference, but has also been actively involved in its organisation. Prof. Dr Thomas Lampke and Dr Thomas Grund are members of the DVS programme committee and play a key role in ensuring the high quality and relevance of the presentations.
With almost 700 experts from all over the world, this year's ITSC once again proved what an outstanding platform it is for the exchange of ideas in the field of thermal spraying, laser cladding and other powder-based coating and additive manufacturing technologies. The combination of a sophisticated scientific programme, an accompanying industrial exhibition and an industry forum created precisely the environment in which ideas are turned into concrete applications.
A particular highlight for us this year was the session „Young Professionals“, which was chaired by Prof Thomas Lampke. The presentations by young scientists, who presented their research to an international audience in just five minutes, were impressive, extremely inspiring and impressive proof of the great potential and fresh impetus in our field.
Together with partners, Dr Thomas Grund organised the session „Thermal Spray in a Nutshell“. This event, specially designed for newcomers to the industry, offered a compact yet accessible introduction to thermal spraying and is an ideal format for providing new industry partners with both practical and comprehensive insights into this specialised field.
