Information literacy

The IL project of Chemnitz University of Applied Sciences was initiated in 2005 with the aim of imparting the key qualification of information literacy, which was part of the new bachelor and master courses system.

Information literacy is indispensable in everyday professional and scientific life as a 'soft skill'. In addition to the knowledge of efficient research and navigation strategies, information literacy includes above all the creativity to consciously design one's own information process in a way that meets one‘s goals.

The library or the subject librarians are responsible for the teaching of information literacy courses in their respective fields.

This online course was revised and updated in 2016, both in terms of content and appearance. The scope is one semester hour per week (2 CP). The course is structured according to a modular system and can serve as a common teaching and learning concept for all courses/subjects in the BA/MA area. The learning objectives and contents have been laid down in a binding form.

At present the following subjects/subjects are included:

The courses usually take place in the winter semester.

Last but not least, we would like to thank all academic libraries and institutions for allowing us to use individual segments and templates.

The NEW e-learning offers can be found under IL-Online.
