Commissioning of a new laser cladding system for processing metallic glasses

The WOT professorship puts a new laser cladding system into operation. The focus is on the processing of functional iron-based metallic glasses. The system from Lunovu GmbH, Herzogenrath, completes the range of thermal coating processes available at the Chair, utilising the existing infrastructure. „This will significantly strengthen the research focus on 'lightweight construction with steel' using high-performance materials and their use for surface functionalisation“, says Prof. Lampke.
