WOT spin-off CMMC GmbH receives innovation award from THE GROW SME association

At the annual general meeting of THE GROW ENTREPRENEURS CLUB on 9 December 2022 in Munich, CMMC GmbH received the „Award for Innovative Startups“, a prestigious award. CMMC GmbH was founded at the beginning of 2021 from the WOT professorship as part of an EXIST research transfer project. It has been fully independent since April 2022 - and with visible success!

CMMC GmbH develops AMC materials of different compositions for industrial applications. AMCs are mostly particle-reinforced aluminium-based composite materials that enhance the lightweight character of aluminium with high-strength and highly wear-resistant ceramic particles to create an alternative to steels or cast iron materials, for example. The company utilises a novel and patented manufacturing process that makes it possible to provide AMC materials in industrially relevant quantities. The aim of CMMC GmbH is to use this method to bring AMC from its niche existence to widespread use.

THE GROW was interested in this goal and the approach being pursued. The entrepreneur network was founded in May 2021 by entrepreneurs from eleven family businesses. Together with start-ups and young founders, the network aims to do good for SMEs in the DACH region & Europe and combine them with successful innovation management. By networking entrepreneurs with start-ups, the aim is to create a combination of innovation and experience that strengthens the economy.
