International Women in Science Day
On December 22, 2015, the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution A/RES/70/212 establishing the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Since then, the United Nations, UNESCO, organizations, and numerous institutions from the scientific community and civil society have been drawing attention to the importance of recognition, participation, and visibility of women in research and science every year. Despite the progress that has been made, gender equality remains a key global challenge. Promoting young women, providing access to high-quality education, and transferring scientific knowledge into practice are crucial measures for achieving this goal.
