Christiane-Nüsslein-Volhard-Stiftung

The Nobel Prize winner in medicine is the founder and namesake of the foundation, which aims to make it easier for talented women with children to pursue a career in science. In particular, it aims to support female doctoral students in the experimental natural sciences and medicine.

Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung

The Böll Foundation is politically close to Alliance 90/The Greens. The foundation's scholarship programme not only supports women, but one of its fundamental principles is gender equality. Students and doctoral candidates from all disciplines are eligible to apply. Currently, the Böll Foundation is particularly interested in supporting women in the natural sciences and technical subjects.

Gunda-Werner-Institut

The Feminist Institute at the Heinrich Böll Foundation awards five doctoral scholarships each year as part of the Gunda Werner College in cooperation with the Böll Foundation's scholarship programme. The Institute sets a current focus on women's policy and promotes cooperation between scholarship holders who are conducting research on this topic.

Deutsche Stiftung Frauen- und Geschlechterforschung

This private initiative aims to highlight women's contributions to human history. It finances book and magazine projects dedicated to this topic, for example, and provides funding for symposia and conferences. The focus is on the humanities and gender studies, and the perspective is international. Women can submit informal funding applications to the foundation.

maecenia Frankfurter Stiftung für Frauen in Wissenschaft und Kunst

The Frankfurt-based maecenia foundation for women in science and the arts is dedicated to promoting women. It supports projects in the fields of science, art and culture. The foundation's founder, Eva Brinkmann to Broxten, works as a scientist and women's studies researcher at Frankfurt University. She has been active in the women's movement for more than 30 years. maecenia awards grants every two years.

femtec.network

The Femtec Network, which is funded by the German federal government, aims to attract young women to engineering and natural sciences and bring companies into contact with talented female students at an early stage. Femtec is a cooperation project between the universities of Aachen, Darmstadt, Dresden, Stuttgart and the Technical University of Berlin and internationally operating companies. The support consists of a two-year career-building programme that runs alongside studies with summer and winter schools, regular meetings and virtual project work. Female students from participating universities are eligible to apply.

Verein Kompetenzzentrum Technik – Diversity – Chancengleichheit (TeDiC)

The association brings together measures to promote equal opportunities in education, training, careers, science and research. Through target group-oriented project work and effective public relations, it aims to continuously increase the proportion of women in IT professions, engineering and computer science. The work, which is supported by the Federal Ministries of Education and Research, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, as well as Economy and Labour, but also by companies, focuses on three areas: ‘Information society – digital integration’, "Education, further training and careers‘ and ’Higher education, science and research".
