  Further informationen
  • By when do I have to apply for the Master's programme?
    • The application deadline is 15 July of the current year for enrolment in the winter semester.
  • Is it also possible to start in the summer semester?
    • The Master's programme normally begins in the winter semester. Admission to the summer semester is only possible if places are available and the student has been placed in the appropriate semester. Applications for placement in a higher semester must be submitted to the Student Secretariat.
  • Is admission to the Master's possible with my degree?
    • Important for the Master's degree is a previous study programme with social and behavioural sciences as well as economics content, in which the necessary prior knowledge for the Master's degree was acquired. The examination board decides on the admissibility AFTER receipt of the application. Please understand that unfortunately no statement can be made about this in advance, as the number of such requests is large.
  • How high is the N.C.?
    • The N.C. is based on the quality and quantity of applicants and is determined during the procedure for the winter semester.
  • How many students are admitted for the winter semester?
    • As things stand, a maximum of 60 students are accepted in the winter semester.
  • What criteria are used in the selection process?
    • At this point in time, it is not possible to say which criteria will be used - apart from the grade - as there are no empirical values yet. More detailed information will be published on the Masters website in April/May.
  • What do I have to consider if I apply for the Master's programme with a foreign degree?
    • For foreign applicants, an application via Uni-Assist is necessary.
  • Is knowledge of English necessary?
    • For the Master's degree, English language skills in the scope of B2 or at least 15 ECTS are required, as the third semester is taught entirely in English or a semester abroad is possible. Proof of English language skills must be provided as part of the application.
  • Can I enrol in the Master's programme without a degree certificate?
    • Completion of the (Bachelor's) degree is required for final enrolment. If the degree has not been completed by the matriculation deadline of 15.10., a "conditional matriculation" can take place. For this, however, all examinations - except the final thesis - must have been completed. The examination board must also have previously approved the applicant in the N.C. procedure. More information on conditional enrolment is also available from the Student Secretariat or on the following page: Transition Bachelor-Master.

Supervision rules for Master's theses: Master's thesis at a chair of another faculty: upon application; first supervisor by chair of another faculty, second supervisor by MOS representative.

Language regulations of the modules:The examination language is German or English. The module descriptions specify which preliminary examinations and examinations must or can be taken in English. Decision of April 23rd, 2020

For the summer semester 2020, the conversion of written examinations into alternative examinations, such as oral examinations or assignments, is approved.

Decision of April 21st, 2020

The Rectorate has made uniform arrangements for the university for the submission deadlines of assignments and theses so that students are not disadvantaged because the library, computer pools and laboratories are closed due to the Corona crisis and communication with supervisors is limited.

The examination board of the Master Management and Organisation Studies therefore confirms the following regulations of the rectorate in particular:

The deadlines for submitting assignments and theses will be automatically extended: The period from March 11th, 2020 inclusive until one week after the resumption of regular attendance, i.e. the opening of the library, computer rooms and laboratories for students, will be excluded from the counting of the deadlines for assignments and theses.

This means, for example, that if the regular stand-by operation begins on May 4th, the deadlines for all work registered before March 11th are automatically extended by 61 days (21 in March, 30 in April, 10 in May). The deadlines of all work registered from March 11th and before the end of stand-by operation will only be counted from May 11th.
In addition, the one-week withdrawal period has been suspended until the resumption of regular teaching. Students can now withdraw at any time before the start of the examination without giving reasons.

Decision of December 7th and 8th, 2018:

The examination board has made a general decision that the examination performance„Social Entrepreneurship“ and "Entrepreneurship II" (Jun.-Prof. Dr. Mario Geißler) in module 3, Functional Management, can generally be recognised without requiring an application on the part of the student. However, the prerequisite is that the course is successfully completed with a grade and 3 credits.

Decision of May 8th, 2017:

Amendment/precision of the decision of November 5th, 2013 in the third paragraph:

“The grading and submission of assignments in the seminars of modules 2, 4, 5 and 8 is regulated as follows:

  • If the lecture has been given but the written paper has not been handed in (on time), the entire performance in the seminar has not been achieved. The seminar must be repeated in the following winter semester.
  • If both the oral and written performance are completed, but one performance is graded with 5.0, an overall grade is calculated. If this is 4.0 or less, the seminar is considered to have been passed.
  • Since the performance in the seminar is a creditable course achievement (ASL), students may repeat it as often as they wish until they achieve a grade with which they are satisfied. In the case of a written paper graded 5.0, we offer the option of only writing the written paper on a new topic in the follow-up seminar; the presentation grade remains the old one.
  • The weighting of the partial performances: 1/3 lecture and 2/3 the written work.“

Decision of November 8th, 2016:

The Board of Examiners decides that, with immediate effect, the course "Sustainability Management of Innovations" (Lecture) within the scope of Module 3 (Area of Functional Management) will be recognised as a substitute examination performance.

Decision of July 5th, 2016:

The examination board decides that from now on the option to write the Master's thesis in English can be decided by the supervising chair.

Decision of October 22nd, 2015:

  1. Master's thesis at a chair of our faculty: with application; first supervision by another professor possible; second supervision by an MOS representative.
  2. Master's thesis at a chair of another faculty: upon application; initial supervision by MOS representative in cooperation with the second supervisor of the other chair.
  3. Master's thesis at other universities: see 2.

Decision of May 14th, 2015:

    • "Ordinary" technical defects in scientific work (e.g. due to forgotten footnotes, citation marks)
    • In this sense, negligence does not constitute plagiarism
    • Practical handling
    • each chair decides on the number of "usual" deficiencies based on its experience
  •

    Intent:

    • Verbatim adoption of one or more text passages (also from a foreign language work) without specifying sources or with identification as an indirect quotation
    • Adoption or paraphrasing of text passages, whereby the sentence structure is changed in such a way that the origin of the text is concealed (without specifying sources)
    • Copying of text passages and related sources from other authors
    • Copying your own texts (e.g. from other written work) without citing the source

Plagiarism has the following consequences:

  • Negligence:

    • Devaluation by 0.3
  •

    Intent:

    • Rating with 5.0
    • Second attempt depending on the relationship of trust at the same or at a different chair on a different topic
  •

Decision of November 5th, 2013:

For information on modules 2, 4, 5 and 8
On November 5, 2013, the MOS Examination Committee adopted the following resolution for grading within the framework of the examination regulations.
The grading and submission of assignments in the seminars of modules 2, 4, 5 and 8 is regulated as follows:

  • If the lecture was given but the written work was not submitted (on time), the entire seminar will not be completed. The seminar must be repeated in the following winter semester.

  • If both the oral and the written work have been completed, but a work is assessed with 5.0, an overall grade will be calculated. If this is 4.0 or less, the seminar is considered passed.

  • Since the performance in the seminar is a creditable study performance (ASL), the students can repeat it as often as they want until they achieve a grade with which they are satisfied. In the case of a written work graded with 5.0, we offer the opportunity to only write the written work on a new topic; the presentation note remains the old one.

  • The weighting of the parts: 1/3 lecture and 2/3 the written work.
