Master Management & Organization Studies

Application projects

In close cooperation with partners from industry, the service sector or public institutions, Master's students are given the opportunity in two-semester application projects to put the content of their studies into practice using concrete problems and to develop their effects. The projects can take the form of training, research or consulting. An important element is regular supervision by the respective chair. Reflection on the project work and the dynamics in the project team serves to assess which theoretical elements can be implemented usefully and in what form. The amount of work contributed is roughly equivalent to a one-person enterprise. This means that even unusually extensive tasks can be managed. Results are documented in a project report. In addition, feedback is given to the partners in the form of presentations, workshops and reports. (further information)

A tutorial supports the application projects of the Management & Organization Studies program.

This is offered across professorships and accompanies students in questions of research methods and project management.

All information about the tutorial can be found here.

The following presents an application project from 2024/2025, which was supervised by the Chair of Organization and International Management. "Ticket to Transformation: A socio-technical design science project for the introduction of a digital process management system in a medium-sized telecommunications company" was carried out by Jannis Bodamer, Ishan De, Edgaras Markulis, and Marvin Tippmann. This project focused on the optimization of organizational structures and processes at evoxa GmbH in Chemnitz. A comprehensive process management system for the structured processing and tracking of inquiries was designed, technically implemented, and successfully integrated into evoxa GmbH's existing IT landscape. The students not only took on the technical development but also provided consulting services in the analysis of existing communication and process structures and, together with the company, developed practical optimization proposals for sustainable efficiency improvements.

This application project offers significant practical added value for evoxa GmbH. The students successfully demonstrated their technical and methodological expertise and are able to transfer this knowledge in an application-oriented manner.
