Application for the opening of the doctoral procedure
When & how?
You should submit an application for the opening of your doctoral procedure as soon as you have finished your dissertation project to the point that you want to submit it for review. Your supervisor needs to agree with this assessment. The application itself has the following parts:
- the completed form for the application, signed by both you and your supervisor, including a proposal for the composition of your doctoral commission (see "downloads" on this page)
- four (if you have two reviewers) or five (if you have three reviewers) printed and bound copies of your dissertation
- a USB stick with an electronic version of your dissertation in PDF format. The file must be searchable. You are welcome to label the stick so that it is clear whose dissertation is stored on it.
- a signed affidavit stating that you have written your dissertation independently. This document must be submitted in the original. You can find a template in the "downloads" section of this page.
- a declaration of consent to a possible review of your work for plagiarism. You can find a template in the "downloads" section of this page.
Conditions
If conditions have been attached to your admission, you must also submit proof of fulfillment of these conditions – at the latest when you submit the application for the opening of the doctoral procedure. You can also submit this proof at any time during the preparation phase of your dissertation. However, without this proof, your application for the opening of the doctoral procedure cannot be processed by the doctoral comittee.
Submission
Please submit your application for the opening of the doctoral procedure complete with all required documents, to the office of the doctoral committee. You can submit your dissertation by post or in person. If you wish to submit your dissertation in person, please contact the office of the doctoral committee in advance to arrange an appointment.
