Short Résumé

I have successfully completed my PhD in English Linguistics from the Chemnitz University of Technology. I am interested in bridging the fields of neurolinguistics, psycholinguistics, phonology, second language acquisition, and corpus linguistics.

My PhD project used evidence from experiments with electroencephalography (EEG) to study the perception of word stress cues by speakers of Slavonic Englishes. My thesis also presented phonetic and phonological analyses on Czech English features and proposed a concept for a tool for training perception and production of segmentals and suprasegmentals following the High-Variability Perceptual Training method.

I studied English and American Studies at Chemnitz University of Technology from 2014 to 2019. During my Bachelor studies I had an ERASMUS semester abroad in Poitiers, France. During my Master studies I specialised in Linguistics and Literatures and worked as a scientific assistant for both professorships.

I was part of the 2019 DAAD project Conflicting Truths in Academic and Journalistic Writing with partners from South Eastern Europe, was in the organisation team of the 2020 continuation of this project From Uncertainty to Confidence and Trust,  coordinated the 2021 project Constructing Confidence and Trust Online and the 2022 project Comparing Confidence and Trust Online and Offline. In 2020 I received a DAAD STIBET teaching assistance scholarship for a course on Empirical Methods in Linguistics.

My corpus-based Master's thesis on the functions of Concession in Open Peer Review was awarded the Marie-Pleißner-Prize in 2020. I have started working on a PhD project in psycho- and neurolinguistics which was granted a three-year scholarship from the State of Saxony in 2020. I will develop the project as an associated member of the CRC-1410 Hybrid Societies. My academic and extracurricular endeavours were also awarded with the 2020 DAAD Prize. From 2023 to 2025 I will be the TU Chemnitz Alumna ambassador for Bulgaria.
