Research Infrastructure

We operate three laboratories at two TU Chemnitz locations, designed for participant studies focused on human–technology interaction in controlled environments and for the analysis of psychophysiological data:

  • Reichenhainer Straße 41 // C47.503 + C47.504
  • Reichenhainer Straße 33 // C43.309

The labs are modularly organized and currently equipped as follows:

Wearable Eye Tracking (Pupil Labs Neon)
      • 200 Hz Eye Cameras30 Hz scene camera
  • Lightweight, mobile, usable without calibration
  • Suitable for field applications or realistic environments

GSR Measurement System (Shimmer3 GSR+)
  • Wireless, high sampling rate (128–1024 Hz)
  • Measures skin conductance (EDA) and heart rate via PPG
  • Comprehensive accessories (sensors, electrodes, mounting equipment)

This equipment enables the collection and analysis of attention, stress, and interaction data across various application domains.

At the core of our labs is the research software iMotions, which greatly simplifies cross-hardware synchronization and data analysis. The included documentation of analysis and calculation methods enhances transparency and comparability of research projects. The software is user-friendly and well-suited for realistic research scenarios. Currently, we have the following modules and hardware:
• Facial Expression Analysis
• Eye Tracking
Galvanic Skin Response / Electrodermal Activity (EDA)
