Across Mobility Stipend Programme 2026 – Call for Applications (Early Career Researcher, R1)
TU Chemnitz invites eligible applicants to apply to the Across Mobility Stipend Programme for short-term stays at partner universities of the Across Alliance. The programme aims to strengthen networking, knowledge sharing and long-term collaboration among researchers within the Alliance.
Note on the purpose of the programme
Networking, knowledge sharing, and teaching and training activities form the core of this programme. Applications focused solely on conducting research projects, without these elements, cannot be funded.
Objective
The Across Mobility Stipend Programme funds short-term stays of doctoral candidates and eligible Master’s students at partner universities of the Alliance, with the aim of
- strengthening networks between researchers and research groups within the Alliance,
- promoting cross-border academic exchange and knowledge transfer, and
- supporting academic and professional development at early career stages.
Early Career Researcher (R1) in the context of this programme means researchers up to the point of a PhD, as defined by the European Framework for Research Careers.
Eligibility
Applicants must be a student or employee of TU Chemnitz and belong to one of the following groups:
- doctoral candidates and Early Career Researcher (R1)
- students enrolled in the final year of a Master’s programme who are currently undertaking their Master’s thesis or are formally expected to begin it during the mobility period
Mobility must take place at a Across partner institution.
Scope of the mobility
The grant programme funds mobilities with a minimum duration of one month. Mobilities may be implemented in the following formats:
| Format | Requirements |
|---|---|
| Physical mobility | At least 1 month on-site at the host institution |
| Hybrid mobility | At least 2 weeks physical presence at the host institution, supplemented by a virtual component up to a total duration of 1 month |
The grant covers costs related exclusively to the physical component of the mobility, for a maximum of one month. No financial contribution is granted for the online component of hybrid mobilities.
Financial support
The grant covers travel, accommodation and subsistence costs for the physical component of the mobility. The calculation is based on the applicable Erasmus+ reference rates, with a maximum individual contribution of EUR 1,250 per month of physical mobility.
Travel support: EUR 309 (standard travel) or EUR 417 (green travel).
Subsistence support
| Duration | Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina | France, Italy, Slovenia, Spain |

Participants with fewer opportunities receive an additional top-up of EUR 100 (up to 2 weeks) or EUR 150 (more than 2 weeks up to 1 month).
Selection criteria
All complete and eligible applications will be evaluated through a competitive review process according to the following criteria:
1. Quality, feasibility and expected impact of the networking, teaching, training and knowledge-sharing programme (0–10 points)
- Scientific networking and academic quality of the proposed activities (0–3 points)
- Potential contribution to long-term collaboration within the Across Alliance (0–2 points)
- Expected impact on the applicant’s academic and professional development (0–2 points)
