Research focuses

  • Abductive and Diagnostic Reasoning

The process of finding the best explanation for a set of observations is based on the Theory of Abductive Reasoning (TAR; Johnson & Krems, 2001). The Theory describes solving abductive problems as a process of sequential interpretation and integration of new observations and hypotheses into a single situation model of the task situation.

  • Traffic Psychology and Mobility

Traffic psychology deals with experiences and behaviour of humans in mobility context. Main topic of this research field is the improvement of safety and comfort for different road users.

  • E-mobility

The projects focuses on the investigation of sustainable mobility concepts, for instance how current emission-free systems fit the user's needs and how they could be refined. Our projects assess the potential of electric mobility and suggest further developments to increase acceptance, suitability for daily use and environmental benefit.

  • Usability & Human Factors

Usability testing checks for the effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction in human machine interactions. Chemnitz University of Technology's usability projects usually cover user tests, expert reviews and user acceptance studies.
