12.05.2025 - The Finnish equivalent of ARD (Yle) in an interview with Prof. Gechert - Prof. Gechert doubts high self-financing effects of corporate tax cuts

The Gechert and Heimberger (2022) study was cited in a memo from the Finnish Ministry of Finance to prove that a planned corporate tax cut would bring major growth and thus be largely self-financing. However, the memo quotes the uncorrected value in the study. If one takes the central result of the study, then the growth effects of corporate tax cuts are not noticeably different from zero. The self-financing effects would then also be correspondingly small.

30.04.2025 - Interview with the Finnish daily newspaper Kauppalehti - Prof. Gechert

Prof. Gechert was interviewed by the Finnish business newspaper Kauppalehti on the growth effects of the planned corporate tax cut in Finland. His conclusion based on his overview study on the subject: The growth hopes associated with the tax cut are overestimated. The funds would probably be better invested in targeted investment incentives for companies or education spending.
