The Centre for Junior Scientists (ZfwN) at Chemnitz University of Technology invites prospective doctoral researchers, doctoral candidates, postdocs, supervisors and other interested participants to TUCgraduate Day on 10 November 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The event will take place in the Central Lecture and Seminar Building (Orangerie), Reichenhainer Straße 90. Participation is free of charge, but online registration is requested.
Under its new name, the event—formerly called “Tag des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses”—continues to offer opportunities for information, discussion and networking. This year’s focus is on international research stays, networks and career paths. The entire event will be held in English.
Programme and main topics
- 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. | “Opening and Moderated Talk with Early-Career Scientists”
Professor Anja Strobel, Vice President for Research and University Development, will open the event. Early-career researchers from various faculties will then take part in a discussion moderated by Dr Laura Weyh. The doctoral researchers’ representatives and TU Chemnitz’s Academic Mid-Level Faculty Representatives (VAMC) will also introduce themselves.
- 12:30–2:00 p.m. | Networking Break with lunch snack
Over lunch, participants can meet representatives of central university services and other points of contact at information stands, and make new connections.
- 2:00–3:30 p.m. | “Beyond Borders: Research, Mobility & Careers”
The discussion will focus on international research, mobility and career paths. Moderated by Professor Anja Strobel, the panel will feature Dr Rim Barioul, Dr Benny Liebold, Junior Professor Yolanda López García and Professor Martin Stoll.
- 3:30–4:00 p.m. | Coffee Break
- 4:00–5:30 p.m. | Two parallel sessions
For prospective doctoral researchers and doctoral candidates: In “The PhD Journey from Different Perspectives,” Professor Sibylle Gemming and Professor Tony Klein will explore different perspectives on doctoral study. The session will be moderated by Professor Thomas Lampke.
For postdocs: In “Building Your Career Strategy in International Academia & Beyond: The Lucky Mindset,” Dr Anne Schreiter will show how postdocs can plan their careers strategically, both in international academia and beyond.
