Electrochemical laboratory

Description

Capabilities

  • Characterisation of fuel cell component layers, single cells (100 A) and short stacks (600 A, or possibly up to 800 A with the new zero-voltage load)
  • Corrosion rate measurement
  • Resistance and contact resistance measurements
  • Mechanical properties of bipolar plate and membranes - flexural and tensile strength
  • Permeation characteristics of membranes and porous media (under construction)
  • Physical vapor deposition, coating and metal plating
  • Analytics: gas chromatography and mass spectroscopy, conductometry, pH measurements
  • Work with volatile substances: Laminar flow box
  • Environment simulation: Climate chamber simulating temperature and humidity; thermostat up to 2.2 kW; Cooling loop
  • Technical gases: H2 (up to 2200 NL/min and 10 bar), oil free air (up to 4400 NL/min) and technical compressed air; N2, combustible gases (CH4); O2; gases for analytics (6.0 H2, HelOx, etc.)
