The Technical University of Lisbon (UTL) was founded in 1930 through the merger of four existing schools. In 1961, three more schools were integrated, including the Department of Political Science, which was originally established in 1906. Today, political science studies at UTL cover a range of topics, including "International Relations," "Social Policy," and "Anthropology and Social Communication."
Students and researchers in Lisbon come from a wide variety of countries and cultures. This international atmosphere is reflected in all aspects of university life. In addition to Portuguese, French, and English, students at UTL also have the opportunity to learn Mandarin.
Boredom is not an issue at the Technical University of Lisbon. Theater groups, numerous sports activities, bars, and libraries provide plenty of opportunities for engagement and socializing.

Lisbon is the capital and largest metropolis of Portugal. As the seat of government and the country's most important port city, it serves as Portugal’s political, economic, and cultural center. The historic old town, with its narrow medieval streets, is one of the city's many highlights.
Lisbon's most famous landmarks include the Torre de Belém, a historic watchtower, and the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, a stunning monastery. Both of these iconic structures are recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
