As part of the conference "European Education after the Elections – Continuity or Change of Course?", Benjamin Höhne will speak about the voting behaviour of young voters in recent federal elections and the resulting implications for political education. The panel will discuss the role of European education in new coalition agreements and how civic education can respond to current developments in Central Europe. The lecture takes place as part of the course "Political Parties in Europe" taught by Acting Prof. Dr. Benjamin Höhne and addresses current trends of democratic backsliding in European states.

From 24 October to 20 November 2025, students, graduates, and staff of the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig (HGB) – in cooperation with Chemnitz University of Technology – will present the exhibition and event project “unvereint / vereint”. The artistic works address social transformations since 1989, questions of social cohesion, and the defense of democratic values. As part of the accompanying programme, the Chair of European Government Systems in Comparison will host its own event: On 5 November 2025, Benjamin Höhne will discuss East German attitudes towards the European Union in the context of current autocratisation trends together with Thu Nguyen (Co-Director of the Jacques Delors Centre, Berlin) and Kristin Hansen (MDR) at the Chemnitz Open Space.

The Annual Conference of the Working Group on Party Research will take place on 8–9 October 2025, in cooperation with the Trier Institute for Democracy and Party Research (TIDuP) and the Representation of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate to the Federal Government and the EU. Under the title “Parties in Transition? Analyses of the 2025 Federal Election”, the conference will discuss current developments in the German party system, voting behaviour, and intra-party processes. The event will be held at the Representation of Rhineland-Palatinate in Berlin and will take place in a hybrid format. Dr. Benjamin Höhne is co-organiser of the conference and chair of several panels, including “Interactions between Federal Elections and Parliamentarism” and “Intra-party Processes: Members of Parliament and Candidates”.

As part of the Colloquium on Political Theory, History of Ideas, and Political Culture as well as the International Network for Populism Research at Kiel University, Dr. Benjamin Höhne (TU Chemnitz) will give a public lecture entitled: "Where is the AfD heading? Between Normalization and Radicalization." Based on current developments and data from a voting advice application for the 2024 local elections, Höhne analyzes the AfD's dual strategy and discusses its political implications. The lecture will be followed by an open discussion.

On the occasion of the anniversary celebration of the Stöckhardt-Gymnasium in Chemnitz, Dr. Benjamin Höhne will give a keynote lecture entitled: "Is democracy still salvageable? Finding a way out of the current democracy debate." The lecture serves as the thematic highlight of the ceremonial event and will be followed by an open discussion.
