WTK 2021 also successful in digital form
The 22nd Materials Technology Colloquium (WTK), which was held as a live online event on 24 March 2021, was also able to shine in digital form with interesting scientific contributions. The highlights of the two-day event with a total of 28 specialist lectures on materials and surface technology as well as materials science were the plenary lectures on the topic of Industry 4.0. Professor Detlev Zühlke, main initiator of the technology initiative SmartFactory KL e. V. and now retired, addressed the necessary framework conditions to turn an industrial revolution from vision into reality. Dr Franziska Bocklisch, Acting Head of the Chair of General Psychology and Human Factors at Chemnitz University of Technology, emphasised the importance of transdisciplinary collaboration, which enables the successful implementation of human-technology cooperation. Professor Andreas Undisz, Head of the Chair of Electron Microscopy and Microstructure Analysis at the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering since 1 November 2020, focused on materials science in his presentation on the possibilities of transmission electron microscopy methods for analysing material surfaces.
