WOT employee receives university prize for doctoral thesis

In December 2021, Dr Pierre Landgraf received one of nine university prizes for his doctoral thesis, which Chemnitz University of Technology and the Gesellschaft der Freunde der Technischen Universität Chemnitz e. V. award annually for the best theses at the university.

The Gesellschaft der Freunde der Technischen Universität Chemnitz e. V. has once again awarded nine university prizes in 2021. The prizes are awarded to the best theses from the eight faculties and the Centre for Teacher Training. The winner from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was Dr Pierre Landgraf. He received the university prize for his doctorate in 2020 and the associated dissertation on the topic of „Microstructure and hardness development in the laser beam treatment of high-alloy tool steels“. With his work, it was possible for the first time to make almost exact simulative predictions of hardness levels and hardening depth curves of investigated high-alloy tool steels as a result of laser hardening processes with different process parameters.

The entire press release on the award ceremony is available on the website of the TU Chemnitz press office ( https://www.tu-chemnitz.de/tu/pressestelle/aktuell/11025 ).
