Secure web access via HTTPS
The URZ operates web servers for the TU Chemnitz that guarantee encrypted transmission between browser and server via https (Secure HTTP). The server www.tu-chemnitz.de must be addressed like this: https://www.tu-chemnitz.de/
The certificate – the "ID card", so to speak – of www.tu-chemnitz.de is authenticated by the DFN-PKI. These certificates are linked via a "chain of trust" to a root certification authority that is classified as trustworthy by current web browsers.

The certificate of www-user.tu-chemnitz.de is issued by Let’s Encrypt, is likewise verifiable via a chain of trust up to a trustworthy root certificate and, with the sole entry of the server name, serves exclusively to verify the connection and the key negotiation for secure data transmission.

How can I use https with us?
The central web servers of the TU Chemnitz – www.tu-chemnitz.de and www-user.tu-chemnitz.de – have been accessible exclusively in a secured manner via HTTPS since September 2014.
Problems:
If absolute URLs are used in documents (e. g. <img src="http://www../path.../image.gif"> instead of <img src="/path.../image.gif">), problems occur when this document is requested via HTTPS. This particularly affects inline images that are not loaded because it is a "mixed page" - a "secure page with insecure images". Here it is advisable to consistently use relative URLs or URLs with https://.
