Chemnitz Physicist Awarded

Prof. Dr. Günter Radons honored by an International Physics Society for excellent peer reviewing

For the renowned American Physical Society (APS), one of the most important international physics associations, Prof. Dr. Günter Radons, Professor of Complex Systems and Nonlinear Dynamics at Chemnitz University of Technology, has been active for several decades as a reviewer of scientific publications. For excellent peer reviews of publications in the areas of “Chaos”, “Complex Systems” and “Dynamics”, Radons was honored as an “Outstanding Referee” at the APS Annual Meeting in early March 2019 in Boston. “I am delighted to receive this award, as it gives the instrument of peer reviewing, which is indispensable for scientific quality assurance, more visibility,” says Radons proudly.

Background: Peer review process

Peer Review is a procedure that ensures the quality standards of scientific work and is therefore indispensable. Independent reviewers, so-called “referees” of a field of expertise, assess the strength of research results. The role of refereeing is an honorary service to the scientific community.
