New Workshops for Doctoral Researchers and Postdocs
The Centre for Junior Scientists has published its workshop program for the 2026/27 winter term. Registration opens on October 1 at 10 a.m.

The Centre for Junior Scientists (ZfwN) at Chemnitz University of Technology is launching a new professional development program for the 2026/27 winter term. The free courses are aimed at those interested in pursuing a doctorate, doctoral researchers, doctorate holders, and researchers working toward a habilitation. Registration for the workshops opens on October 1, 2026, at 10 a.m. via the OPAL learning platform. Further information about the workshops and the links for enrollment are available on the ZfwN website.
The program, offered in German and English, once again covers a broad range of transferable skills. Workshops include “Intercultural Competence and Inclusive Collaboration”, “Thesis Defense Training”, and “Stimmfunktion und Resonanz. Körperzentriertes Stimmtraining für den akademischen Vortrag.” “KI im Promotionsalltag – Literatur, Schreiben, Prompting” explores current uses of artificial intelligence in academic work. Other workshops address topics such as writing persuasive research proposals and navigating ethics applications for research projects with confidence.
MentalStrategies – Effective Stress Management During Your PhD
A special offering this semester is the English-language workshop series “MentalStrategies – Effective Stress Management During Your PhD”, organized for doctoral researchers in cooperation with Techniker Krankenkasse (TK). Across five sessions, held partly in person and partly online, participants will learn evidence-based strategies for managing stress and relaxing. Practical exercises, discussion, and self-reflection will help them recognize personal sources of stress early and develop suitable strategies for their doctoral studies. TUCgraduate Day 2026
A highlight of the winter term is TUCgraduate Day (formerly the “Tag des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses”) on November 10, 2026, held in cooperation with Across. Under the theme “International Doctoral Research and Academic Careers: Research Stays Abroad, Networks, and Career Pathways,” the event offers opportunities to learn, exchange ideas, and build connections around international research experience, academic networks, and career paths.
