The University Library continues to open up for its users

Users benefit from upcoming extended opening hours, access to open-stack shelves and more conveniences with regard to borrowing and return of media

Step-by-step, the doors of the University Library open up for its users: Thus, up to 50 persons are permitted to stay at the same time for a limited period in the library for taking books from the open-stack shelves and borrow them. In addition, the usage of the lockers in the basement is admissible for up to three persons. However, for this, like for all other stays in the Library longer than 10 minutes, an evidence of either a negative Corona test result, dating no longer than 24 hours at maximum ago, an evidence of complete vaccination or an evidence of recovery (“3G-rule”) is mandatory. In case of a stay taking no more time than 10 minutes, for the collection of reserved media or for the return of borrowed media for instance, no G-evidence is required. Adherents and members of Chemnitz University of Technology may furthermore continue with the online-reservation and usage of work and examination places in the library building.

From September 27 on, the University Library opens Monday to Friday from 9 am to 7 pm. “Our users benefit from this even in several respects: They are provided a longer period for reservation and usage of workplaces, they are enabled to reconcile easier their usage hours in the library with their individual time scheduling and they can make use of the library more intensively – which might be of significant importance particularly at the beginning of the new term”, quotes Angela Malz, Director of the University Library.
