German Language Examination for University Admission (DSH)

DSH Examination

Proof of sufficient knowledge of the German language is a prerequisite for admission to a degree programme at Chemnitz University of Technology. You can provide this proof by taking the German Language Examination for University Admission (DSH). Chemnitz University of Technology offers a DSH course during the semester.

Offered Courses:

Together with the International Office, the Foreign Language Center offers preparatory intensive language courses. The participants of the language courses are taught in groups of approx. 15 students over 20 to 24 teaching units of 45 minutes in reading, listening, speaking, and writing as well as grammar.

Course Structure

In cooperation with the University's International Office (IO), the Foreign Language Centre offers intensive language courses to prepare students for their studies. Participants in the language courses are taught reading, listening, speaking, writing and grammar in groups of around 15 students over a period of around 15 weeks in 20 to 24 lessons per week.
The aim of this course is to prepare students both for the exam and for studying at a German university. The experienced teachers use a variety of methods in the course to improve language skills on the one hand and to (further) develop the skills and abilities necessary for student life on the other.

Course Organisation

The Foreign Language Centre is responsible for the organisation of the course and its content. If you have any questions about the admission requirements or the costs of the course, please contact the International Office. Contact at the IU

Testimonials

The DSH course has really improved my confidence in my German language skills, which makes life here very easy for me and increases job opportunities. I also find it easy to understand academic texts in my subject area due to the university-orientated approach of the course.

This experience not only gave me a lot of new and useful knowledge, but also many other life lessons. As I had set myself a goal right at the beginning, the course was a motivation for me to maintain discipline, attend lectures and study regularly. The professors were excellent with everyone and always endeavoured to pass on their knowledge to us in the best possible way. The lectures were not monotonous, we regularly discussed different topics, both private and those that arose within the course. As the professors showed a great deal of empathy and understanding towards all of us, we dealt with each other in the same way. Whenever someone needed help, we were there for each other. This course brought me many new friends, life experiences and challenges. It laid the foundations for my further studies and gave me the motivation I needed to realise my dreams and plans. I am glad that I have formed close friendships with some of the participants of this course, so we are still studying together - each in our own study programme, but nevertheless we have not lost the feeling of mutual support, respect and cohesion when we find ourselves in certain life situations. I am very grateful to everyone and whoever decides to take part in this course will definitely not make a mistake!
