Advancements in Complex Materials for Manufacturing: Insights from Expert Lectures

In the Complex Materials for Manufacturing (CMM) module, in which over 150 international students are enrolled, the range of courses was expanded in WS23/24 by two experienced experts. In four informative guest lectures, the students delved deeper into the topics of ceramic-based composites (CMC) for high-temperature applications and metal matrix composites focused on biomedical applications.

Prof. Dr. Friedrich Raether, Deputy Director of the Institute and Head of the Fraunhofer Center for High Temperature Lightweight Construction HTL, presented the latest findings on the production and application of CMCs. He emphasized the central role of digitalization and simulation in the further development of high-temperature CMCs. Following this, Associate Prof. Dr. Anupam Agrawal from the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar, India, gave a digital lecture that provided an overview of the principles and applications of Ti-based metal matrix composites in the biomedical field.

The lectures were very well attended and provided valuable practical insights. The PVW team would like to thank the guest lecturers for their valuable contributions and looks forward to continued collaboration in the future.
