Lectures - Experts in CMCs and Ultrasonic Testing
In the Complex Materials for Manufacturing (CMM) module, which has over 120 enrolled international students, the range of courses has been expanded in WS22/23 by two experts. Through four guest lectures, a deeper insight of ceramic-based composite materials (CMC) for high-temperature applications and applied ultrasonic testing were lectured to the students.
Prof. Dr. Friedrich Raether, Deputy Institute Director of Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research ISC and Head of Fraunhofer Center for High-Temperature Lightweight Construction HTL, discussed the latest advances in CMC manufacturing and applications and emphasized the importance of digitalization and simulation in the development of high-temperature CMCs. Mr. Wilfredo Sosa Pérez, Business Development Manager at Proceq SA, Switzerland, gave an overview of the principles and applications of ultrasonic testing and presented different ultrasonic techniques with their advantages and limitations.
The lectures were well attended and gave valuable practical insights. The PVW team thanks the guest lecturers for their contributions and looks forward to future collaborations.
