As a part of different lectures conducted by the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering (IWW), PD Dr. Friedrich Raether, head of the Fraunhofer Center for high-temperature lightweight construction, held a guest lecture on ‘High-temperature lightweight structures’ (HTL). The focus of the lecture was on several topics such as material selection, fatigue and ceramic matrix composites. Thereby a successful educational training of the students of IWW through one of the leading experts in this field has been achieved.

PD Dr. Raether is the author of more than 70 publications and since many years, he has been intensively doing his research on the fields of modelling, manufacturing and characterizing ceramics, ceramic matrix composites and developing relevant test procedures. PD Dr. Raether will also contribute to the lectures at IWW in the upcoming summer semester.
