Kick-off of a SAB-funded project with ThyssenKrupp-Presta Chemnitz

On 28 September 2017, a three-year joint project funded by the Sächsische Aufbaubank (SAB) between the WOT and Chemnitz-based SME ThyssenKrupp Presta Camshafts kicked off with a kick-off meeting. The project task is to improve camshaft systems for internal combustion engines. As a strong market representative of such systems, ThyssenKrupp Presta is a recognised project partner. Camshafts control the valve movements in combustion engines and thus influence engine performance, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, among other things. Compared to shafts with fixed cams, variable valve trains not only allow cylinders to be deactivated, but also different valve lift curves to be realised for different load and speed ranges. This greatly improves the efficiency of combustion engines.

The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Free State of Saxony.
