Materials technology colloquium goes international – Research meets industry in Chemnitz
With the 24th edition of the Materials Technology Colloquium (WTK), we have taken an important step towards internationalisation: For the first time, the conference was held in English – in the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz. Around 220 participants from Germany and abroad accepted our invitation to discuss current developments in materials science and engineering and to strengthen the dialogue between science and industry.
Under the motto „Academia meets Industry“, the conference programme offered a variety of specialist presentations and discussion panels covering a wide range of topics – from additive manufacturing and joining technology to surface and hydrogen technology. A total of 62 presentations and 13 poster contributions provided exciting insights into classic and interdisciplinary fields of research.
The dialogue was also lively in the industrial exhibition: Companies such as Kulzer, Netzsch-Gerätebau, Zeiss Microscopy, Polytec and many others presented themselves with their own stands and contributed to the combination of theory and practice with keynote speeches.
A special highlight was the awarding of prizes for the best poster contributions by electronic voting during the evening event – a successful conclusion to the first day of the conference.
