Ensure you know when your passport expires, so as to ensure this does not contravene visa or immigration requirements.

It is essential that you take out overseas health insurance for the duration of your visit abroad. You will need to provide proof of health insurance when you register at your host institution. DAAD Group Insurance provides combined health, accident and personal liability insurance. Information on this option is available from the DAAD website.

Make sure you research your accommodation options at your host institution in good time. If you wish to rent a room in a hall of residence, submit your application within the specified deadlines.

Find out whether your host institution offers induction and orientation events for international students. We strongly recommend that you take advantage of these kind of events.
