Chemnitz Centre for Mobility

Interdisciplinary, participatory and human-centred mobility of the futureOn Friday, 29 August 2025, the Chemnitz Centre for Mobility (CCM) was opened at Chemnitz University of Technology, highlighting interdisciplinary mobility research at the university. The CCM consists of four professorships at Chemnitz University of Technology, whose different disciplinary perspectives form a strong foundation for interdisciplinary collaboration in mobility research:

Ergonomics and Innovation Management (Prof. Dr. Angelika Bullinger-Hoffmann)

Cognigive Psychology and Human Factors (Prof. Dr. Stefan Brandenburg)

Human and Technology (Prof. Dr. Lewis Chuang)

Communications Engineering (Prof. Dr. Klaus Mößner)

The CCM defines itself as a forward-looking initiative that addresses current and future challenges in mobility from an interdisciplinary perspective. The focus is not only on vehicles in the traditional sense, but also on issues relating to rail, bicycle and pedestrian traffic. Special attention is paid to the needs of vulnerable road users and questions of inclusive transport planning. The CCM kick-off event brought together representatives from academia, business and society. The participating professors shared key findings from current work and projects. The Digital Innovation Hub ‘Focus Human’ was represented at the opening with its own pavilion, where it presented demonstrations and offerings for human-centred digitalisation, including self-study courses on value-centred development. Opportunities for future cooperation with partners from industry, research and the public sector were also discussed, with the aim of developing practical and innovative solutions for a sustainable future of mobility.

The launch of the CCM marked the beginning of an open dialogue for researching and designing safe, intelligent and human-centred mobility solutions.
