Autonomous Systems Lab
Content: Autonomous systems, such as service robots or self-driving cars, independently decide how to achieve a given goal. To do so, they must perceive their environment via sensors, evaluate and interpret the information, and generate appropriate behavior. This module complements and expands upon the content of the module "Autonomous Systems" and builds on the knowledge acquired there. In the practical course, students work in groups on a complex practical task over an extended period of time. Techniques such as image processing, pattern recognition, navigation, localization, and behavior control are applied. In the accompanying seminar, group progress is presented, advanced specialized knowledge is imparted, and current topics in autonomous systems are introduced and discussed.
Learning Objectives: Students are capable of applying their previously acquired knowledge of autonomous systems to complex practical tasks through independent work, both individually and in teams. They are able to independently acquire specialized knowledge, critically question it, and present their findings.
