  • Fundamentals of projects and project management
  • Typical project phases and related design and management issues
  • Methods and tools for planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing projects (e.g., Gantt charts)
  • Selected project management methods and project organizational structures, including agile approaches
  • Success factors and project controlling
  • Specific characteristics of managing international and IT projects

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the module, students are able to plan, execute, monitor, and control complex and extensive tasks in the form of projects. They apply the acquired knowledge of operational project management to ensure successful project implementation. Students can identify and apply appropriate methods and tools for the different phases of project management.

Furthermore, students are capable of selecting the most suitable project management approach for specific real-world projects (in particular traditional vs. agile approaches). They are also familiar with the specific characteristics of international and IT projects.

Teaching Format

  • Lecture in Project Management (2 contact hours per week)
  • Tutorial in Project Management (1 contact hour per week)

Language

The course may be taught in either German or English.

The examination questions will be provided in English. Students may submit their examination in either German or English.
