TU Chemnitz invites female students, university staff, and interested women from the business sector to the 2nd International Women-in-Science Day, which will be held on March 7, 2025, at the Altes Heizhaus. Our colleague Mahsa Samsami gave a talk on the highlighted outcomes from The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) 2023/24 Women’s Entrepreneurship Report: Reshaping Economies and Communities and inspirational stories of women entrepreneurs in South Africa, Spain, and Morocco. The event was hosted by Prof. Dr. Anja Strobel, Vice-President for Research and University Development at TU Chemnitz, and Karla Kebsch, the university's Equal Opportunities Officer.

On 18 February in Bilbao, insights about women's entrepreneurship were featured. The report launch also featured an engaging panel with Aileen Ionescu-Somers, GEM Executive Director, along with our colleague Mahsa Samsami; Cristina Oyon, SPRI representative, Basque Government; Wingee Sin, Global Program Director, Cartier Women's Initiative; Amanda Elam and Iñaki Peña Legazkue, Professor at the University of Deusto and GEM Spain.

Around the world, the number of people deterred from starting a business because of fear it might fail is increasing, according to the GEM 2024/2025 Global Report titled Entrepreneurship Reality Check, released on February 18th at a special event to launch the report in Bilbao, Spain. Those who take the leap are uncertain about the expected role of artificial intelligence in their businesses. Our colleague Mahsa Samsami is one of the co-authors with Stephen Hill and Natanya Mayer of Chapter 6, entitled "Entrepreneurship and sustainability". Full Report

Our colleague Mahsa Samsami has joined as a member of AOM ENT Division Global Scholar Development Committee. The committee organizes impactful workshops and events throughout the year, aiming to empower global entrepreneurship scholarship. These initiatives include workshops designed to help international scholars navigate the AOM meeting and program, as well as hands-on sessions that provide valuable insights into publishing research using non-Western data.

Ms. Marie-Luise Fleißner, former MOS student, was honored with this year's Marie-Pleißner-Award for her master's thesis titled "Gender-specific disadvantage in organizations: Women's perceptions and coping strategies." Supervisor of the master thesis was our colleague Christian Huber. This is the third time in a row that the Marie-Pleißner-Prize has been awarded to a Master's student from our chair. We congratulate Ms. Fleißner and wish her continued success in her future career!
