CC-licenses
By the assignment of Creative Commons-licenses, authors may assign themselves rights for usage of their elaboration in a simple and legal watertight way. CC-licenses are standardized legal texts defining a scale of different usage rights which may be selected by the author for her/his respective elaboration.
In the case of academic usage of elaborations with CC-license, the rights of a user of an elaboration for reproduction (e.g. to copy or to present it to the public), for processing (to make changes of an elaboration, e.g. to translate it) or for commercial usage or their obligation for indicating the name of the author or the forwarding of the elaboration by the same licensing conditions are of particular interest.
Chemnitz University Library recommends e.g. in the case of Open Access-publication in subject-specific journals the assignment of CC-licenses in kind of CC BY or CC BY-SA. Further information regarding this topic may be found on the Copyright-websites of the Library.
