Finding, checking and presentation of information is a crucial component of scientific work. In this respect, the reflected handling and processing of information is particularly decisive for the quality of an elaboration. It becomes more and more important but also challenging to find qualitative, research-based information, to differentiate this kind of information from less reliable information and to present the knowledge acquired in a comprehensible and attractive manner.

Following the framework of reference information skills, this course was designed for assisting in the elaboration of written papers or oral presentations. In this Modularized Course for Information Skills and Scientific Work, the person MIKA (abbreviation of the German designation of the course: “Modulkurs zur InformationsKompetenz und zum wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten”) explains how to find and process thematically-relevant information.

For only if the basics of information skills are mastered and effectively applied, good scientific work and thus academic discourse and progress are possible.
